Fireworks and Music collide to create art in the sky.
I will be helping my friend and fellow pyrotechnician, Shaun Hauter, compete in the largest pyro musical competition in the USA. Located in Innsbrooke Missouri, Sky Wars is hosted by the Missouri Pyrotechnics Association. Sky Wars is on Saturday, September 27, 2025. https://skywarsevent.com/
My First Mongoose Fired Show! I could not have been more pleased with how this system performed. Flawless!
I wish I could say my show was also flawless, but it wasn’t. Overall I am more than happy with it. It was the show of cross fire! I had several compound cakes catch from fallout. The Blue Nishiki cake at the end of the first song was supposed to be in the finale. The gold horsetail fan cake was supposed to be in the Fallout Song, and the 500s blooming zipper was supposed to be in the last song. I also had cake fires on the left hand side ignite some cakes that were supposed to be in the finale. Had the cakes not ignited, I would say it was my best show ever. Well, maybe it still is! My audience sure thought so!
My 2024 Toxic Pyro Musical. The main issues I had were an entire left side of cakes not firing due to a firmware glitch in my firing software. Also, the wheels at the end did not fully light or spin as they should. They were up on 12ft posts. Use your imagination to fill in the cakes and the wheels and enjoy. One center cake didn’t fire in the first song, so that left me with a little bit of black sky, but otherwise given how awful setup conditions were with rain, heat, and high humidity, it went fairly okay. This is the show that convinced me to change firing equipment. My future shows will be with Mongoose.
My favorite show so far. Many times we are scripting with imperfect products and trying our best to get things as close to perfect as possible. While this show has a few timing mistakes and one crossfire shell, it was as close to perfect as I can wish for in the pyro musical world.
A smaller show, but a fun one! Several things were not as planned, but even when a show doesn't go right, it can still create a fun experience for your audience.
Being a one woman show has its downside. This show suffered from my exhaustion with a rack turned around and some cues wired in the wrong places. However, it still is a labor of love and enjoyable to relive and learn from the experience.
